The Bstar Project was established in late 2009 and aims to become the Bay Area’s largest provider of smiles to displaced families and senior citizens. Our events + programs below are designed to bring a little sunshine into the lives of members in our community. New programs are added each year.
Our annual winter drive is held in October + November. The drive helps provide hundreds of umbrellas to displaced school-aged kids from Kindergarten to 18-years old. The umbrella donations are made by the generous members of the community at the various drop-off locations scattered throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Upon completion of the drive, our youth volunteers are invited + encouraged to help pass out the donated umbrellas to children in select shelters.
We all know how great it feels to receive nice words in the mail. Our “With Love” program encourages families to create hand-made greeting cards for other families living in the shelters while celebrating special events, like holidays and birthdays. Whenever there is a family who needs a little sunshine in their days, we send off one of our cards made with love from caring members of the community.
